APACHE WELLS COUNTRY CLUB, INC. - June 13, 2008

The “train” is still moving down the track on the journey for the new AWCC Clubhouse & Pro Shop. It takes many dedicated, talented and willing volunteers to accomplish successfully this project. In the past several years AWCC has been blessed with many men and women who desire to make AWCC an enjoyable place to live and play golf, as well as making AWCC keep in step with the times and make all our properties maintain their values.

One of those “volunteers” is Steve Daughton. If you need a job performed Steve will get the job done. Steve and his wife, Kaira purchased a home in Apache Wells in 2002 and since 2004 they live here full time. Steve and Kaira both enjoy golfing and are involved in many of the clubs and activities available in Apache Wells.

A couple of the big areas that Steve was in charge of were the geological testing of the ground and foundations of the land where the new clubhouse is to be built and the coordination for location and setting of the storage pods and temporary Pro Shop and Executive Offices. In Arizona being “on time” Steve has different definition than he would tell you and patience was required on the delivering and setup of both, but everything did finally arrive and “the train” is still making forward motion down the track, thanks to the efforts of Steve Daughton. Thank you “Steve” for all you have done!

The Pro Shop and Executive Office is packed and ready to move into the temporary facilities upon the connection and completion of utilities in the mobile units, located on the east side of the cart parking lot and driving range. The business of AWCC will be conducted in two 12’ X 60” units for approximately 12 months. One unit will be offices for Linda Smith our Executive Office Administrator and Bruce Taubert our Head Golf Professional and also contain the files, supplies and office equipment. The second unit will be the Pro Shop and Snack Bar.

The inventory and equipment and misc. from the restaurant, lower level and Apache Hall are also ready for their placement in the mobile storage pods located in the parking lot on the corner of Hermosa Vista and 56th St. The moving date for the storage pods begins on June 18th at 5:00am. Work crews of G & G crew and member volunteers are setup for this job.

The collection of the special assessment continues, currently there are eleven certificates that have not yet responded with payment. The sale of golf certificates during the summer months is historically quite slow, but two certificates have transferred since April 30th. A list of the certificates available for purchase can be obtained in the Golf Shop or call the Executive Office at 480-985-4102 or email Linda Smith at lrsmith@awcc.phxcoxmail.com.

The revenues for summer play have continued to be with projected numbers, golf play in our industrial leagues is good. The sale of beverages (beer, wine, soft drinks, etc.) are better than anticipated, the gross sales in May 2008 were over $7500.

Several pictures are attached for your information on the progress of the project and a few pictures showing the participants in the Memorial Day Tournament. If you have questions or concerns, we welcome your inquires. Call the office at 480-985-4102, email at lrsmith@awcc.phxcoxmail.com or call me on cell # 480-231-9449.

The train is moving uphill and slow, but soon it will be picking up speed and moving down the hill.
